Voodoopriest: band releases song about a Brazilian Indian on Indian’s Day

In celebration of Indian’s Day in Brazil, VOODOOPRIEST released a Single of their first album. The song is called "Mandu", title track of the conceptual record that tells the true story of Mandu Ladino, an indigenous hero that resisted to the annihilation of indigenous tribes by the Portuguese colonizers in the 18th Century. The single is available for free download at the band’s official website (www.voodoopriest.com.br).

"The history books used in our schools rarely show the indian as a hero. We see colonizers as heroes and priests as saints, but they never praise the natives, even when they are only defending their lands and families. Mandu Ladino was a true Brazilian hero, and we hope, with this release on Indian’s Day, to pay homage to this great indian of our history," says vocalist Vitor Rodrigues.

VOODOOPRIEST is a Brazilian Thrash Metal band formed by Vitor Rodrigues (vocals), Covero (guitar), Renato De Luccas (guitar), Bruno Pompeo (bass) and Edu Nicolini (drums). The record was produced by Brendan Duffey and Adriano Daga from Norcal Studios, in São Paulo, and will be released in the first semester of 2014.
