And once more, Blog N Roll Productions takes a visionary step forward, and brought to Rio de Janeiro one of the greatest exponents of the Black Metal worldwide: ROTTING CHRIST, one of the biggest names in the Greek scene in her new tour album, 'Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού', which has just been released.
Fans outside having fun and talking. |
The surroundings of Teatro Odisséia, since early hours of afternoon, even with a high temperature, was full of Headbangers eager for the show, who were taking the opportunity to talk and drink beer, smoothly and without fanfare, quite the contrary: all was very calm.
Before the show begins, people contemplated by the promotion "Meet and Greet with ROTTING CHRIST" were taken to where the quartet was, and were recepted with great humility and receptiveness by Sakis, Themis, Georges and Vaggelis, always smiling , friendly and very accessible to all, showing that success does not go up to their heads and that their public is very important to the band. A lesson to be learned by many musicians in the Metal scene about the relationship between bands and fans.

At the right hour, the sounds of 'Sono L'Antichristo', the intro for the show, started, and the audience warmly received the band, and then they begun with 'The Forest of N'Gai', from the classic 'Passage to Arcturus' albumn. In fact, the whole set of the show spanned the entire career of the band, as they performed songs from almost all their CDs. Then came 'Athanati Este' and 'Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού', all sung by the audience, who would swoon with each song. Even the passages sung in Greek were shouted for everyone.

Sakis, extremely friendly and at ease on stage, maintained a hot and strong empathy with the audience, that answered to his requests, the new members Vaggelis and George excited, waving and raising the public, and Themis, concentrated behind his drums, occasionally between songs, greeted the audience.
'Nemecic' and 'King of the Stellar War' stirred the audience as the band played and the audience sang to the extreme conditions to their lungs; 'The Sign of the Evil Existence' and 'Transform all Suffering Into Plagues', classics from ‘Thy Mighty Contract' era, led the public to madness and slam dancing wheels began to emerge and became one gigantic wheel during 'Societas Satanas', THOU ART LORD's cover, which for those who do not know, is a side Black/Thrash Metal project of Sakis with NECROMANTIA’s Magus.
Was the show over?
No, they played 'In-Yumen Xibalba', one song of the new CD, and 'Non Serviam' (which filled the eyes of this author, fan of the band for 20 years, with tears), 'Χαοσ Γενετο (The Sign Of Prime Creation)', 'Phobos' Synagoghe' and the great 'Noctis Era'.
Sakis, a legend in Black Metal. |
The band left the stage, but soon returned for an encore with 'Archon', 'Fgmenth, Thy Gift', ‘Shadows Follow', and 'The Fifth Illusion', that some in the public shouted for since the beginning of the show, and ended the night, with the band being cheered by all public present, and in a new show of great humility and simplicity, as the band left the place where the show happened, they stayed for nearly an hour meeting fans and talking with everyone, before returning to the hotel and from there, they went to the After Party’s event, at the Heavy Duty.
And must be stated that Blog N Roll Productions, along with Audio Blast Press, had done a great job in terms of structure, bringing equipment of first quality for the show, which made the event even better. Quality, foresight, professionalism and passion together walking hand always yield great fruit.
