St. Madness - Canonizing Carnage (English)

By Marcos Garcia

The school of traditional North American Heavy Metal is, without doubt, clearly distinguished. To have this perception, just listen to a traditional American Metal band and European one, and you will see that the yankees make a more melodic sound and with a refined and elegant technique, even when the band does something more direct. It's a characteristic of North America, and this always generated good acts, as LIZZY BORDEN, OMEN, and even generates strong names, as the veteran band St. MADNESS, from Phoenix, Arizona, who arrives with her new album, the great 'Canonizing Carnage'.

For those who do not know, this quartet makes a traditional and strong Metal, Heavy as a mountain, with a lot of energy, with vocals very well posted and with a strong, aggressive and heavy and exciting guitar riffs, which occasionally go in Thrash Metal, and melodic solos, bass guitar with good technique and pounding drums, keeping pace, dictating the tempo and maintaining cohesive work. Result: a strong sound, dynamic and aggressive, which flows spontaneously, with various groove touches here and there. It's guaranteed to hear the music and have necks aches after they shake!

Having the production made by Patrick Flannery, Larry Lea and own Quartet, their music sound cleaned (which can be proven in the most calm moments), but at the very same time heavy and intense, without making you loose any characteristic of their sound. The art, by itself, is beautifully and well worked, with a striking cover and the inner art is attractive and well acclimatized.

Listen to the CD really is a great experience, because the level of composition is very high.

It is somewhat hard to pick one or another track specially, since all the songs are too good, but we have high lights in the heavy 'Not of this World', with their great vocals and chorus; 'My Name is Lester ' is another hit with extreme weight and great guitar riffs; the flurry and more rhythmic 'MDB', a catchy song with very good vocals and backings, MDB means 'Metal to the Death and Beyond, a anthemi statement; the shredding 'Canonizing Carnage', that give pain to the neck of the listener for headbanging; the heavy and full of feeling 'AZ Woman', where bass and drums give a show aside, precisely because diversity of tempo changes; the great version for PINK FLOYD's 'Comfortably Numb', who gained a heavy version; the rhythmic and sabbathical 'Energy Vampire', with its slow progress and its heavy and technique drums, along with intense vocals, showing themselves a versatile voice; 'Fuck All That', with its grooving and hooking pace and strong chorus; the sour version to METALLICA's 'Seek & Destroy', with memorable solo; and full of energy and heavy 'The Beginning of The End', which will cause huge slam dancing rings on the shows.

Buddy, this CD deserves both the investment for a physical copy as a live shows by Brazil.
